A Salesforce Release Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of delivering new features, updates, and configuration changes from development through testing to production in the Salesforce platform. The role ensures that releases are stable, secure, and aligned with business objectives, while minimizing disruptions to ongoing operations .
Core Responsibilities
- Release Planning & Coordination: Plan and schedule feature rollouts, aligning with business goals and stakeholder needs. Coordinate with development, QA, operations, and business teams to ensure all aspects of the release are covered .
- Deployment Management: Oversee deployments across multiple Salesforce environments (sandbox, UAT, production) using CI/CD pipelines and source control systems like Git/GitHub .
- Stability & Risk Control: Maintain system integrity by ensuring clean, error-free deployments and managing technical debt effectively .
- Process Improvement: Implement and refine release management best practices, agile methodologies, and DevOps/DevSecOps frameworks to improve efficiency and reduce risk .
- Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps architects, developers, administrators, and QA teams to streamline workflows and automate deployment processes .
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear release documentation and share lessons learned to support future releases .
Key Skills & Qualifications

- Salesforce Expertise: Deep understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities, features, and limitations; experience with Apex, Visualforce, and configuration management .
- DevOps/CI/CD Skills: Proficiency in CI/CD tools, release branching strategies, and automation for Salesforce deployments .
- Version Control: Strong experience with Git for managing and tracking changes in Salesforce codebases .
- Agile & DevOps Practices: Familiarity with agile methodologies, release planning, and DevSecOps principles .
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Ability to resolve deployment issues quickly and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
