We are seeking a Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of enterprise data models and database architecture supporting a complex, integrated education technology ecosystem. This role will help enable high-quality analytics, reporting, and operational performance across multiple systems and stakeholders.
Role Overview
As a Data Architect, you will design and maintain scalable data architectures that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and data integration. You will define logical and physical data models, guide database design decisions, and collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to ensure data is reliable, secure, and optimized for performance.
This role supports an environment integrating multiple SaaS and enterprise systems, requiring strong experience in data modeling, governance-minded design, and cloud-based data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead data architecture efforts including logical and physical data modeling
- Design scalable database schemas and enterprise data structures to support analytics and reporting
- Define standards for data modeling, naming conventions, and data quality practices
- Support enterprise reporting needs by enabling clean, well-structured datasets and semantic layers
- Partner with engineering and integration teams to align data design with system interfaces and workflows
- Contribute to data governance, lineage, and documentation of key data entities and definitions
- Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Provide architectural guidance for enterprise data warehouse and/or data lake implementations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in data modeling and database design
- Strong expertise in relational database concepts, schema design, and normalization/denormalization strategies
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable enterprise data structures
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise data warehouses and/or data lakes
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as:
- Snowflake
- Amazon Redshift
- Experience supporting data integration and analytics environments in cloud ecosystems
- Understanding of modern data architecture patterns (e.g., dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas)
Work Authorization & Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be eligible for and capable of obtaining a U.S. Government security clearance
- Must be currently residing in the United States
- Must be willing to travel occasionally to Washington, DC for in-person meetings
